How it all started...
Christ Community Church began in the Summer of 2009. The first meeting was in a home, just to eat and enjoy each other's company. The fellowship turned into worship as different members produced keyboards and guitars in the gathering. They began to pray for each other and seek direction from God.
Soon eight families began meeting in homes on Friday nights, earnestly praying, seeking God's guidance. On Sundays they attended various churches in the community. At the time, the groups did not know if God's plan was for them to continue together, of for them to be sent to different churches. They knew they had to be in a church and desired a church where truth was preached, where God's Word was first and foremost, where the people loved each other and worked together to reach the community, and where worshippers could worship freely in spirit and in truth.
They soon began meeting in the "upper room" at CrossTies. Most of the early focus was on prayer, as they continued to seek direction from God. Worship centered around prayer and praise.
On October 21, 2009, Christ Community Church of Appling County, Inc filed Articles of Incorporation with the Secretary of State. In November 2009, CCC called it's first pastor, Rev. Brad Park. They secured the facilities at the "Spanish mission church building" at 5700 Blackshear Hwy as a meeting place. New families joined as the focus added the dimension of "reaching others". The little mission church building was soon filled to overflowing.
In 2010, CCC began to organize itself as a church. After much prayer, searching and deliberation, the congregation adopted a set of "by-laws" on March 10, 2010.
Church leaders felt God's leadership to seek a permanent facility, designed for effective worship and Bible study. As was their pattern, this search became a sincere matter of prayer.
Early in that process, church members got excited, as an opportunity to purchase an existing church facility (Covenant Church) seemed likely. Then that opportunity fell through. What to do? Again members prayed seeking God's will and waiting on the LORD. A potential location for a new church building was identified and worship center plans were being drawn up. The question of how to get the money to build such center was debated. Do we wait until we have a substantial portion of that in savings? Do we borrow all we can? Who will loan that much money to a new Church? Again the members continued in prayer.
Then, miraculously, the leaders of Covenant Church approached Christ Community Church, ready to sell. In fact, ready to give the church for just the outstanding debt. This facility was purchased the second week of March 2011 and included a worship center with Sunday school space, a fellowship hall with kitchen, a building suitable for a youth center, and nine acres of land with a paved parking lot and landscaped grounds, all completely furnished. God gave it....imagine that! In fact, it was so ready that the first worship service was held in the new facility on June 5, 2011, less than three months from the date of purchase.
In Spring of 2020, the church burned the note on the building making Christ Community Church completely debt free just before the pandemic hit our world.
